Board Of Deacons
MISSION STATEMENT: To welcome and greet All who enter our midst. To minister to and provide support for the members and friends of First Presbyterian Church through prayer, support in time of illness and grief and to celebrate the accomplishments in our lives after the example of Jesus Christ.
OUR COMMITTEE:
* Ministers to members and friends of FPC in time of special needs, grief, illness, celebrations.
“I am your Deacon” program enables us to keep in touch with members and friends throughout the year. Each month at our meeting cards are signed and sent to those who are ill, need any type of support or are celebrating an event in their life as well as birthday cards to members and friends who are 70 and older and children 10 and under. Deacons also visit members/friends if they are hospitalized. When needed, the Deacons arrange for meals to be delivered by members/friends to members/friends’ homes.
* Supports Sunday worship and other special services.
Provides support for Sunday worship and special services by preparing the sanctuary; greeting members, friends and visitors; assisting youth acolytes; scheduling Greeters and hosting fellowship time after service. When needed, transportation to and from church activities is coordinated by the Deacons. Fair Trade coffee, chocolate bars and hot cocoa are sold from our Coffee Kiosk on Sunday mornings as well as during the week.
* Provides Fellowship opportunities for members and friends of FPC.
“Everybody’s Birthday Party” and the Fall Breakfast Potluck events are popular, fun gatherings for both the young and young at heart. After worship, on the second Sunday of each month, “2nd Sunday Breads” is hosted by the Deacons. A member of the board creates the displays for the “Who’s in your Pew” program to help our members/friends bond through sharing and learning about the lives of each other.
