Visitor Info
- Don’t come too early, most folks show up about 9:20 or 9:25 (sometimes 9:35) for our 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning worship.
- You don’t need to dress up unless you want to. You will see plenty of casually dressed worshipers, including a few in Packers gear, as well as some who enjoy putting on their “Sunday Best.” There’s no real dress code, unless you’re in the choir: they wear robes (most of them).
- We have a new hymnbook we really like. It has a wide variety of hymns, songs, spirituals and provides the music and the words for each song. You won’t need to follow words on a screen: Our worship in screen-free.
- We are ready to welcome people of all ages—you will find all ages in the congregation. The younger school age children have a “Discovery Time” during worship and then leave for Sunday School and choir each Sunday.
- You will get a bulletin prepared just for that Sunday that will guide you through the service: the songs, prayers, and extras. They’re especially great if you like to know what’s going to happen next.
- Service is supposed to run for 1 hour, but often goes an extra five minutes. We like to blame (credit?) the pastor’s sermon for this. But sometimes it’s because of all the individual joys and concerns for each other and for the world that are expressed out loud during the “Prayers of the People,” or all the announcements of upcoming events, missions, and ministries. And sometimes it’s the sermon.
- When you see two young people walking in to light the candles, followed by the pastor and the lector, that’s the signal that worship is about to begin. They are “bringing in the Light” of Christ to light the candles on our communion table.
- We love having young children in worship so much, we have made special activity bags to give their busy fingers some related activities to enjoy during the grown-up service. Including an etch a sketch. These are located in the Narthex (entry), to the left of the of the main sanctuary doors. For those feeling a bit more wiggly, there is Nursery care available for children under five years.
- A voluntary offering is collected every Sunday after the sermon, to express our gratitude and to help God’s work get accomplished here in the Marshfield community and around the world. We also have a “Blessing Box” for offerings to help with direct need ministries in Marshfield.
- We will not make you stand up and introduce yourself during worship, we will give you a small goody bag on your way out with info about us, and a few unique tchotchkes.
